Severe Earthquake in China: 111 Fatalties, Over 200 Injured

In China, a destructive earthquake has resulted in the death of at least 111 individuals, with over 200 others sustaining injuries. There is concern about a potential increase in the number of casualties.

The quake, which struck the northwestern provinces of Gansu and Qinghai in China, claimed a minimum of 100 lives in the border region of Gansu on Tuesday, while additional fatalities were reported in the Chinese province of Qinghai.

According to the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre, the earthquake measured a magnitude of 6.1, with its epicenter located 102 kilometers southwest of the city of Lanzhou in central China.

The Chinese government has activated the disaster relief emergency response and expedited rescue operations. According to reports, a response team has been dispatched to the affected areas to assess the impact of the earthquake and provide guidance for local relief efforts.

Those injured in the earthquake have been transported to hospitals for medical assistance.
